After a long summer hiatus, the wine tasting event is back, this Saturday from 5-8pm. The wine tasting event is a great opportunity to try out a range of different styles and as pretty much all of these are new to us as well, we value the feedback and will select the top couple favorites to be available for a few months. Here are the six whites and six reds that will be available: These were hand-picked by the amazing wine connoisseur Tara Cardenas from Paustis Wines, knowing just about everything on the +500 different brands in rotation. The price is $15 for a sample of each, with specials of course on anything remaining after the event, here and gone as they say, and some snacks/food will also be provided to compliment the tasting.
Also, sometimes we get asked, "Why have a wine event if you're a brewery?", from which the answer is many. For one, people keep asking for it, if there were a winery or three in the area, of course not but in the meantime it's a great way to try something different without committing to a full glass let alone a full bottle. Second, it can help us decide which are keepers, our wine selection has evolved directly from these wine tastings. And third, the more I learn about the beer making process, the more I'm curious about other fermentation styles, and wines have no shortage of different complexities and nuances to learn from. Such as for any fans of Lambic beers, the champagne of beers, a process that ends up being a hybrid between a beer and a wine, hence a reason for lambics usually being stored in corked bottles and taking a year to be properly conditioned and carbonated. Should be an exciting tasting, I can't wait myself, see you this Saturday! Cheers, The Whacky Loony
