Now that we've been state approved, one more inspection remaining (tomorrow), the brewing activities will be picking up and coupled with additional fermenters, will be increasing from one batch every couple weeks to a few batches per week within the next 2-3 months. With this, at ~150 lbs of used grain per batch, raises the problem of what to do with the all the used grain.

As the used grain still contains some sugar, proteins, and other nutrients, it can be used in a wide variety of applications, some of which include:

• Feed for farm animals, most will eagerly devour the beer making by-product.
• For various human food items, such as bread, graham crackers, waffles, cookies, crackers, pie crusts, and many more.
• Using as compost to fertilize fields, gardens, and urban greenhouses.

If interested, feel free to stop by Loony's Brew any time to discuss and if so inclined, bring a 5 gallon bucket or other container to bring some home and test it out. If all goes well, we can work out arrangements so you're notified via email whenever a new batch is ready, picking it up as fresh as possible.

This Friday at Loony's Brew we'll be properly celebrating St. Patricks day.

While it's formerly about Saint Patrick, the holiday is more or less about celebrating anything Irish, including partaking in vast quantities of fermented sugar blends and dancing to live music. No doubt raising all sorts of pagan druid feelings and in the process making a bit of mockery of the guest of honor, so be it, lighten up and have a crack.

What will be happening at Loony's Brew starting at 4pm:

• For anyone wearing green (has to be visible), the first beverage is on the house!
  
• Specials on all Irish beers and drinks.
  
• Irish music playing all night.
  
• Door prizes given out every hour.
  
• The stage will be set up and open for anyone with enough courage to sing or play a song or two. This includes open mic with house guitars and other instruments, as well as karaoke. The played will be locked for only Irish songs to be played (just kidding, there's no way we can do this).
