February Recap and What's on Deck...

It's been awhile since the last blog posting but hey, it's been a whirlwind of a month. What follows is a recap of what's been happening and what's on deck.

What's Been Happening:

• New stage, new layout: The local Ambush band has broken it in, a few further modifications but generally has been working great.
• Brewery: A test batch of an Amber Ale has been brewed and kegged, went through lots of learning curves but generally, so far so good. The plumbing and ventilation is complete, we're getting a replacement part shipped out for the boil kettle for the next batch and awaiting the state inspection to get the state license, from which is the city license and we're done. We've also received a $4k grant from KEDA (Thank You!!!), with matching is $8k, from which we've gone ahead and ordered a 5 BBL fermenter, able to ferment 10 kegs (2 batches) per turn. 
• Stephen King Movie: This last Friday I received an email from an independent director based in Chicago for directing a Stephen King movie, One for the Road, at Loony's Brew and a few local outdoor locations. As being a longtime King fan, this is a huge honor and all my plans on Friday were instantly thrown out the window in preference to digesting this new development. Preparations are being worked out and if all goes well, filming is expected to happen in early November. Here's the teaser trailer:

What's on Deck:

• Events: There's a wine tasting event this Saturday (4-7pm), we'll be having a big St. Patrick's day party on Friday, March 17th, and a beer tasting event later in the month, hopefully serving our own beer.
• Brewery: If all goes well, by the end of March we'll be both State and City approved and are currently in preparations for setting up the tap system.
• Deck Opening: If we get just a little more nice weather, we'll take out all the deck tables and chairs so you can hang out and get re-charged with some well needed Vitamin D.

That's about it for now. Events this week include 2-1 Margaritas tonight, open mic and karaoke on Wednesday, and Ladies night on Thursday.
